RIPExpo 2016

RIPExpo poster by Marcel Mensah

I'm about to embark on a lovely mid-morning stroll to the downtown library here in Providence, for the third annual RIPExpo. It's one of my favorite shows of the year, and not just because I can walk to it. Good show, run by good people. Special guests this year include Ben Passmore, Hellen Jo, local hero Xander Marro and the lovely Kevin Czap of Czap Books

I'll be tabling there with an assortment of SCREWJOBS, Major Bummers and MONSTER books for sale. This little dude is going to be there, and is finally available for purchase in the Hidden Fortress store once again:

I'll see you there!

RIPExpo 2015

We'll be having a book release party for BUDDIES at Ada book tonight, so come on down if you'd like to lay your hands or eyes on the book on it's birthday. Ada is at 717 Westminster St, here in Providence.

If you'd like to come visit us this weekend at the RIPExpo, here's where we'll be:

You can find BUDDIES at the Hidden Fortress table in the Ship Room, or at the PCC table down in the pit!

See you there!

BUDDIES

The Rhode Island Independent Publishing Expo (RIPE or RIPExpo) is just over a week away, so it's probably time to start talking about BUDDIES! Walker and I were both honored to be Special Guests of the show, and decided to show our appreciation to the RIPExpo and the Providence comics community by collaborating on an ENORMOUS anthology that would serve as a Providence "scene report" in book form. That book is called BUDDIES (or, more accurately BUDDIES 2015. we're hoping it will be a yearly census), and it contains comics from close to 50 artists living and working in Providence, RI.

Luke Boggia designed the hypnotic cover:

Featuring some beautiful new work from Heather Benjamin:

Puke Force makes an appearance, courtesy of Brian Chippendale:

The return of USA TRUCK from Mickey Zacchilli:

And some Doofus pages from Rick Altergott:

The printing and folding is (mostly) done, now we just have to put the dang things together...

Look for BUDDIES at the RIPExpo, March 28-29, right here in Providence, RI!

RIPExpo 2015 Special Guest Announcement

We are humbled and deeply honored to announce that the Hidden Fortress Press has been selected to be a Special Guest at RIPExpo 2015, alongside dear old friends Jo Dery, Caroline Paquita of Pegacorn Press, and the Providence Comics Consortium, and new friends Ginette Lapalme, Whit Taylor and Metropolarity!

Last year was the inaugural year for the RIPExpo (Rhode Island Independent Publishing Expo) and in my opinion, one of the best shows of the year! Everyone involved in organizing and coordinating the event worked so hard to put it all together, and totally nailed it! I am thrilled to be a part of the show again this year, and so proud to have been selected as a Special Guest.

We've got big plans for this show, including an epic collaboration with our pals in the Providence Comics Consortium! So excited about 2015 right now!

RIPExpo 2014

This weekend we'll be downtown at the Providence Public Library for the first ever Rhode Island Independent Publishing Expo (RIPExpo). It should be a great time, and events have probably already started by the time you read this; check out some of the amazing programming they have planned! And gaze upon this beautiful poster by Leif Goldberg:

Matthew Lawrence wrote a sweet piece about it in this week's Phoenix, you should all come down and visit!
